Montney Gas
The Montney shale gas resource play is located in north east British Columbia and extends into Alberta. Its location is just south of the Horn River shale gas an area in which Pengrowth also has an interest. It is estimated that the Montney holds up to 50 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in place.
Unconventional drilling technologies such as horizontal drilling and extensive fracturing techniques have allowed for profitable exploitation of shale plays like the Monteny in recent years.
