Leading the Charge
The Canadian oil and gas industry is number one in the world for the ethical and environmentally responsible production of oil and gas. Together, we are world leaders in the development of technology and innovations that enable our continuous efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
A Culture of
The entire industry is working together and making tremendous progress in reducing the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions through better technologies. Pengrowth is actively researching and deploying innovations that reduce the energy required and greenhouse gases associated with each barrel of oil we produce. Infill wells, the co-injection of non-condensable gas and solvents, and the simultaneous co-generation of steam and electricity are all innovations that not only reduce the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions but also make economic sense.
The Lindbergh steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) project in the Lloydminster area is currently estimated to have 390 million barrels of proved and probable reserves with a 54-year proved and probable reserve life index. We are employing a number of technologies and operational approaches to reduce the energy requirements and carbon intensity of our operation.
Our Groundbirch Montney natural gas project in northeast British Columbia is currently estimated to have 670 billion cubic feet of proved and probable natural gas reserves with a 118-year proved and probable reserve life index. The dry nature of our gas reduces our operating costs.
The Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act (ESTMA) requires extractive entities active in Canada to publicly disclose, on an annual basis, specific payments made to all governments in Canada and abroad.
